FAQ's

What does “Clean Burning” mean exactly?

Our "clean burning" designation focuses on setting standards for minimal visible smoke production when a candle is burning. This label does not imply that our candles are entirely free from fumes or other emissions; rather, it signifies that they adhere to stringent criteria to reduce smoke generation.

It looks like there is space between the wax and the glass- is this ok?

Nature's Fluctuating Temperament! Our waxes may show some moodiness when temperatures change, resulting in a 'wet spot' near the glass. No need to fret, though – it's merely a cosmetic matter that won't affect the burn or quality of your candle. Keep burning and relish the delightful natural fragrance!

How can I prevent candle "tunneling"?

Burn for an Adequate Duration on the First Use:

  • When igniting your candle for the first time, ensure it burns until the wax melts entirely to the jar's edges. This establishes a "memory pool" and aids in avoiding tunneling during subsequent burns.
  • With each use, allow the wax to melt completely to the jar's edge before putting out the flame.

Do I need to trim the candle wick?

It's crucial to trim the wick before each lighting. Just like with most candles, make sure to cleanly and evenly cut the wick so only 1/4" of it is above the wax surface. You can use scissors, nail clippers, or a wick trimming tool for this task. Remember to let the candle cool completely before trimming the wick.

Why is the candle flame constantly wobbling, or sooting?

This issue could stem from either a draft or a wick that is too long. To ensure our candles burn consistently and cleanly, remember to trim the wick properly before each use and light them in a draft-free area.

Remember to trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting and follow the suggested burn time.

There is still wax remaining after I've burned my candle down, is this normal?

Do not fret about your candle burning completely! Our candles prioritize safety. We incorporate a wick sustainer to ensure a small amount of wax remains at the bottom, preventing a phenomenon known as "flash-over" and promoting a safer burning experience.

Once the flame extinguishes, you can effortlessly clean out the remaining wax, tidy up your candle jar, and repurpose it for any use you desire. Additionally, our candles are sized according to their expected burn time, ensuring you receive excellent value beyond just the amount of wax.

How can I clean the jar for reuse?

Give your candle jar a fresh start? Easy peasy! Just use your wick trimmer or pliers to delicately take out the wick stem.

After pouring out any leftover wax into your compost or trash bin, carefully wash the jar with warm soapy water. Remember, to maintain their appearance, it's recommended not to place colored jars in the dishwasher.
